Each year at the Australian National Optimist Championship regatta, the top 20 sailors are chosen to be members of AOST, and these sailors represent Australia at a number of International regattas:
The top 5 represent Australia at the next Worlds; 1-7 go to the Asian Regional Championships; 6-14 go to the NZ Nationals; 8-11 go to the Europeans; 12-18 to the African Championships; 17-20 go to Singapore.
These events provide the sailors with a unique addition to their sailing experience, and thus the Australian Nationals are just the start of an Optimist sailors year.
Queensland has just one sailor in AOST this year. (Klaus Lorenz from Whitsunday Sailing Club, Airlie Beach).
We need your help to improve on this next year. Plan to be at the 2011 Nationals at RAPYC, Pittwater, New South Wales, 6-15 January, and sail for Queensland!
